Die erste Etappe des Percorso Valle Maggia startet in der Hauptstadt des Tessins, Bellinzona, und führt bis nach Locarno. Der Veloweg verläuft entlang des Flusses Ticino, der dem Kanton seinen Namen verleiht. Ab Tenero wechselt der Weg ans Seeufer und endet schliesslich am Fährterminal von Locarno.
The Bellinzona starting point lies in a strategic spot at the southern entrance to the Gotthard, San Bernardino and Lukmanier Alpine passes. And, assimilating a Lombard character, it’s known to be the most Italian-like city in the country.
