The sunny side of the Hochschwab - the Aflenzer Bürgeralm The climatic health resort of Aflenz with the Aflenzer Bürgeralm is known as a hiking and skiing area. The first ski lift was built here in 1954 and today this small, family-friendly ski area is one of the few natural snow ski areas in Styria. The lifts are in operation at weekends and during the vacations - depending on the snow conditions. This area is simply wonderful for snowshoeing. The ascent from Aflenz to the alpine pasture area is well signposted and is sunny throughout. Once you arrive at the alpine pasture area, there are a variety of snowshoeing options, which can be individually designed due to the gentle terrain. The abandoned slopes with pleasant gradients are perfect for snowshoeing. The terrain is easy and "avalanche-proof", only on the north side of the Schönleitenhaus does the terrain break off steeply, so caution is advised here, especially in fog.
Starting point: Parking lot at the chairlift, 858 m, approx.
