Lonely grassy mountain under the spell of the TrettachspitzeNicknamed the "Matterhorn of the Allgäu Alps", the shapely Trettachspitze is one of the region"s absolute showpieces. There is no doubt that only climbers have a chance on this exorbitantly steep rocky peak. However, between the long valley furrows of the Stillach and Trettach rivers, a green ridge stretches out, which carries the Wildengundkopf directly to the north. This is also an opportunity for mountain hikers to get up close and personal with the Trettachspitze. Although there is no official mountain trail to get there, with a little confidence and a sense of direction, the ascent is not rocket science. There are no climbing sections, you move through alternating steep meadows and with the Wildengundkopf you not only gain a fantastic box seat in the heart of the Allgäu Alps, but also a summit away from the fashionable destinations.
Starting point: Alpe Eschbach, 967 m, final stop of the bus line from Oberstdorf via Renksteg and Fellhornbahn (the last public parking lot is located there). First course usually from 7 a.m. (exact timetable at www.brutscher-reisen.de).Requirements: T3.
