The Waldviertel Four Markets Trail leads through the "High Waldviertel", which is perfect for hiking. The landscape gets its appearance from extensive coniferous forests, heather, mighty granite blocks, birch groves, fields and meadows.
The 59 km long circular hiking trail connects the towns of Groß Gerungs - Rappottenstein - Schönbach - Arbesbach - Groß Gerungs.
When the circular hiking trail was created in the 1970s, it was intended to connect four towns that were all markets at the time. Another thing they have in common is that they were founded in the 12th century.
