From the Salzatal valley to the highest peak of the massifWhen we start the Hochschwab ascent from Weichselboden, a long, actually unspectacular yet varied hiking trail awaits us. The small village in the Salzatal valley is directly touched by the Second Vienna High Spring Water Pipeline, with several local springs feeding fresh water into the thundering water pipeline. Things are a little quieter at the Edelbodenalm. As if made for a postcard, the alpine huts are positioned in front of Ringkamp and Hochschwab and blend into the landscape in the truest sense of the word.
