A lookout point above the Inn Valley: The Viggarspitze rises along the ridge between the Patscherkofel and Glungezer mountains, which in itself suggests a tempting conclusion: this mountain must be a first-class Inn Valley viewpoint! It's usually included in the hike on the Glungezerweg trail – coming from the Patscherkofel cable car – but it certainly deserves more recognition. Those who hike up from the Viggartal valley will undoubtedly appreciate the Viggarspitze's grandeur and experience its quieter moments along the way.
Starting point: Mühltal, 1039 m, a district of the municipality of Ellbögen with a bus stop. Parking is available a little further up at the start of the forest road. Difficulty: T2–3. Normal mountain trails, the descent via the Zirbenweg (Swiss Stone Pine Trail) is quite well-maintained, with some steeper sections near the summit. A longer approach into the Viggartal valley follows a wide farm track.
