Chapel Circuit – The Chapel Trail: In 1013, the noble Florentine Giovanni Gualberto Visdomini retreated to the remote slopes of the Pratomagno mountain. He thus became the founder of a monastery where monks still live today. They tend not only to the famous forests (one of the beech trees is said to be 1000 years old), but also to the ten chapels surrounding the sanctuary.
Starting point: Vallombrosa Abbey, parking lot, 930 m. Directions: From Florence via Pontassieve and Pelago to Vallombrosa. Park in the lower parking lot before the long straight access road on the left. Campers must park further back.
