Utting, Bierdorf und Riederau
Via the Ammersee-Höhenweg and back along the banks of the Ammersee The Seeholz between Riederau and Holzhausen is considered one of the most valuable forest nature reserves in Bavaria. In the Middle Ages, it was probably a hunting ground for the Wittelsbach dynasty and later a middle forest and forest pasture. In the process, oaks were promoted, so that today, together with hornbeams, some of which are over 350 years old, they form a forest community that is actually typical of dry and warm areas in the rather cool and damp Alpine foothills. The very old oaks are slowly dying and provide a habitat for numerous deadwood species, some of which are threatened with extinction. Almost all native woodpecker species can be observed here, although the presence of the middle spotted woodpecker is a rarity.
