The Buchensteinwand is the viewing mountain in the middle of the Pillersee Valley. The 30 m high Jakobskreuz at the summit provides even more spectacular panoramic and deep views.
The crossing starts at the Rast tour in Hochfilzen. The Tennweg and the direct path lead up to the Hoametzl Hut, which is an ideal place to take a breather and rest. The route continues quite steeply uphill to the reservoir on the Buchensteinwand plateau. From there, take the Blumenweg, along the edge of the rock, to the Jakobskreuz.
