The Buchensteinwand is the panoramic mountain in the heart of the Pillersee Valley. The 30-meter-high Jakobskreuz (Jacob's Cross) at the summit offers even more spectacular 360-degree views and vistas.
The crossing starts at the Rast tour stop in Hochfilzen. The route leads uphill via the Tennweg and the direct trail to the Hoametzl Hut, which offers a welcome opportunity for a first break. From there, the trail continues quite steeply uphill to the reservoir on the Buchensteinwand plateau. The route then follows the flower trail along the edge of the cliff to the Jakobskreuz (Jacob's Cross).
