Über die Silberen, 2318 m
Large mountain dome made of water-eroded Schrattenkalk In the border region between Glarus and Schwyz, karstified mountain areas extend over a wide area. The Schrattenkalk karst fields, gnawed away by the ravages of time, look like a fossilized glacier and are often compared to a lunar landscape. We get up close and personal with such geomorphological features during a hike across the Silberen. However, only the uppermost part is as pale as stone. All around, the Silberen is surrounded by lush green pastures, so that we experience very different facets on this tour, including a magnificent view, for example towards Glärnisch or the southern front of Druesberg and Co. We ascend via the north side and later complete a wide arc on a beautiful panoramic trail high above the Rossmatter valley.
Starting point: Pragelpass, 1548 m. Approach from Glarnerland through Klöntal and via Richisau to the first parking lot at the top of the pass. Postbus only as far as Richisau.Requirements: T3. Meadow paths and cart tracks, the latter especially towards the top. Elementary surefootedness advantageous. Orientation problematic in fog, although sufficiently marked.
