Into the rock arena of the Grosses Höllental In the magnificent Höllental, on the slopes of the Raxalpe and Schneeberg, lies one of the cradles of Viennese alpinism. Its southern branch, the Grosses Höllental, presents the most impressive high mountain scenery in the area with walls up to 800 m high. The secured Teufelsbadstubensteig trail leads from the Große Höllental up through the Hintere Loswand to the Raxplateau. The descent via the somewhat difficult Wachthüttelkamm, which is also secured, is a rewarding but challenging undertaking for mountain hikers experienced in rocky terrain.
Starting point: Weichtalhaus in Höllental, 547 m (see tour 15).Requirements: Demanding tour with partly exposed, secured rock passages. Sure-footedness, a head for heights, stamina and via ferrata skills (difficulty: B) required. Rockfall helmet and via ferrata set strongly recommended.
