Teufelsbadstubensteig
Into the rocky arena of the Great Höllental (Hell Valley): In the magnificent Höllental, nestled on the slopes of the Rax and Schneeberg mountains, lies one of the cradles of Viennese alpinism. Its southern branch, the Great Höllental, presents the most impressive high-alpine scenery in the area, with walls reaching up to 800 meters high. From the Great Höllental, the secured Teufelsbadstubensteig (Devil's Bathhouse Trail) leads through the Hintere Loswand (Back Los Wall) up to the Rax plateau. The descent via the somewhat challenging, but also secured, Wachthüttelkamm (Watchtower Ridge) offers a rewarding, yet demanding, undertaking for experienced mountain hikers.
Starting point: Weichtalhaus in the Höllental valley, 547 m (see tour 15). Requirements: Challenging tour with some exposed, secured rock sections. Surefootedness, a head for heights, stamina, and via ferrata experience (difficulty: B) are necessary. A helmet and via ferrata set are strongly recommended.
