Terza Cengia am Pomagagnon
Adventurous south-facing traverse to Punta Erbing "Passeggiata della Croda" is the name given to this tour in the southern precipices of the Pomagagnon, a mild understatement for a somewhat unconventional tour amidst vertical rock faces. It is certainly no "walk in the park" and doesn"t fit into any other scheme; it can neither be characterized as a real via ferrata nor as a hiking route, but rather as a "wild path" for mountain lovers with a penchant for the unusual. The secret lies in one of the diagonal bands that run through the Pomagagnon, namely the third: the "Terza Cengia". Secured sparingly, you have to be able to rely on your all-round skills here, which of course suit a dedicated Dolomite mountaineer well anyway. The crowning glory of the band traverse is the short jump to Punta Erbing, which is not very important, but offers an impressive view.
Starting point: Rifugio Col Tondo (1429 m); access from Cortina via Chiave.Requirements: Character: Partly airy, only partially secured diagonals, in between tricky walking terrain and in places also I. degree. Mountain experience more important than strength and technique. Difficulty: B.
