High-altitude hike around the Vigiljoch. The Vigiljoch forms the northeastern end of the long Zufritt ridge, which rises between the Ultental and the Lower Vinschgau valleys and ends east of Lana. The small church of St. Vigil stands on the pass, formerly the border of the Diocese of Trento. The site high above Lana has been documented since prehistoric times; today, a cable car and a chairlift take visitors to the summit. Near the church, at the Bärenbadalm alpine pasture, the radioactive springs were tapped that provide the source of the popular Merano mineral water and also supply the Merano thermal baths.
