Floral Wonders and Wet Feet: The "Sentiero Airone 2," one of the three major, yellow-blue marked circular routes in the Orecchiella Nature Reserve, named after the outdoor magazine "Airone," explores the hills and deep ravines in the western part of the area. In spring, some of the steep slopes turn pinkish-red – countless wild peonies display their splendor. However, at this time of year, a significant amount of water rushes down from the Apennines, so the Rimonio River can become a serious obstacle. Be prepared for wet feet.
Starting point: Ristorante La Greppia, 1205 m, about 1 km past the Centro Visitatori dell'Orecchiella visitor center, above Corfino. Directions: From Castelnuovo di Garfagnana towards Castiglione/Modena, after 2 km (after the sharp bend in the side valley) turn left towards Corfino.
