Through untouched forests to the alpine pastures of the Sonnwendstein and the Erzkogel, accompanied by fantastic panoramic views into the Vienna Basin as far as Lake Neusiedl, into the Styrian Mürz Valley to the highest foothills of the Eastern Alps Rax & Schneeberg.
On this hike, the Sonnwendstein is climbed from the west via the Almsteig trail. The forest path branches off from the Maria Schutz pilgrimage route and leads uphill in switchbacks to the alpine pasture at the foot of the Sonnwendstein.
