Schneespitze, 3166 m
Three-thousanders for experienced alpine hikers: As a glacier-free three-thousander and an ideal summit destination from the Magdeburger Hütte, the Schneespitze enjoys considerable popularity, especially among ambitious hikers for whom the lines between hiking and mountaineering blur. Naturally, the route is classified as "black" (difficult) in our selection, but those who are sure-footed in typical scree terrain and can confidently tackle a steep via ferrata section will be rewarded with magnificent high-alpine impressions. We stand directly on the Stubai Main Ridge in illustrious company.
Starting point: Magdeburger Hütte, 2423 m. Access see tour 7. Requirements: T4. Marked route in high alpine terrain, initially on a good path through glacial polish and scree terrain, later more untidy and in places steeper until the start of the via ferrata on the southeast ridge.
