The ruins of Leuchtenburg Castle and prehistoric sites Leuchtenburg Castle towers over Lake Kaltern on a striking cone. It was a fief of the prince-bishopric of Trento to the lords of Rottenburg, who came from the Inn Valley and were bailiffs of the court of Kaltern between 1286 and 1410. True to its name, the stump of the ruins - 350 meters higher - resembles a lighthouse. Wall frescoes in Moos-Schulthaus Castle reveal what the castle looked like 600 years ago.
Starting point: parking lot (310 m) on the western ramp of the Kreither Sattel (382 m).
