Ses Puntes and Caragolí bridle path
Following in the Footsteps of the Austrian Archduke Ludwig Salvator (Part 1) First things first: This magnificent circular route leads through the private nature reserve of Muntanya del Voltor in its first section, for which you need a free access permit. The bridle path (Camí de s'Arxiduc) was created in the second half of the 19th century by the Austrian Archduke Ludwig Salvator (1847–1915) and is now one of the most beautiful high-altitude trails in Mallorca. Once you reach the crest of the Tramuntana Mountains, you have views of both the northwest and south coasts of the island.
Starting point: Plaça Camp de Vànol on the main road (Ma-1110) in Valldemossa, 400 m, bus stop. Paid parking is available on the Ma-1110; free parking is available at the end of Carrer de les Oliveres. Requirements: A relatively strenuous hike on partly uneven paths with steep ascents and descents.
