On the nature trail through the moor The Premer Felt was formed at the end of the Würm Ice Age around 15,000 years ago. At that time, the Lech glacier retreated more and more from the Alpine foothills. The meltwater was dammed up by the east-west running molasse ridges near Lechbruck to form the so-called Lechbrucker See. Over time, the Lech became deeper and deeper, while streams flowing into it transported gravel into the lake. As a result, the eastern part of the lake basin was cut off and subsequently silted up. Over thousands of years, the initial fen became a raised bog. As an FFH area, it is now under European protection.
