Rock Carvings as Cultural and Historical Phenomena: The narrow Notgasse gorge was traversed for centuries by pack animals, charcoal burners, herdsmen, and likely also smugglers. The carvings etched into the rock walls of this gorge are culturally and symbolically significant phenomena from past centuries. They exert an almost mystical charm on many. Unfortunately, they are endangered by the effects of nature, but also by human carelessness (over-carving, etc.). We recommend visiting the Notgasse only as part of the regularly offered guided tours provided by the Gröbming Tourist Office, in order to also receive the necessary background information (+43 3685 22131-0).
Starting point: Valley town / Starting point: Gröbming, 770 m. Steinerhaus on the Stoderzinken, 1830 m. Toll-free access from Gröbming (12 km) with the Summer Card. Transfer for guided groups to the Steinerhaus.
