Montera Pittaine, 489 m
Ascent to the highest peak in Sardinia The roof of Sardinia is formed by a series of bare mountain peaks that rise almost imperceptibly from the hilly landscape of the Gennargentu. They are made of silvery shiny slate rock, Gennargentu means "silver pass". The highest peak is named after the Piedmontese general and naturalist Albert Ferrero, Count of Marmora (1789-1863), who drew up the first topographical map of Sardinia. A magnificent view over the island awaits us at the summit of the Punta.
Starting point: Parking lot in front of the Rifugio Montano, S"Arena, 1510 m. From Desulo in the direction of Fonni on the SP 7 for about 6.3 km to the crossroads at the top of the pass (Arcu de Tascussi) between kilometer signs 14 and 15, then turn right towards S"Arena (yellow sign) and Rifugio Montanu.
