Monte Rondinaio, 1964 m
A challenging circuit above Lago Baccio: Alps or Apennines? Monte Rondinaio certainly satisfies even seasoned mountaineers – with secluded scree slopes, dark rock faces, and an elegantly curved connecting ridge to the neighboring Monte Giovo. Its crux, although secured with a steel cable, still pushes the climber 350 meters into the air above Lago Baccio.
Starting point: Parking lot, 1470 m, at the end of the access road below Lago Santo, in the Parco dell'Alto Appennino Modenese near Pievepelago. Directions: From Lucca via Abetone towards Modena and Pievepelago, from there briefly towards Passo di Radici and turn left onto a narrow mountain road to the paid parking lot at Lago Santo. Train and bus: No connection.
