In the chestnut groves near ArcidossoThe Tibetan community of Merigar is located at the foot of Monte Labbro. The spiritual center was founded in 1981 and is now one of the most important places of Buddhist teaching outside Nepal. On a scenic tour across green meadows and sparse chestnut forests, we pass by this place of tranquillity. Some of the buildings can be visited.
Starting point: Arcidosso, 650 m, Piazza Indipendenza in the town center. Several buses run daily from Siena and Grosseto to Arcidosso(tiemmespa.it).Requirements: Leisurely circular hike on field and meadow paths and trails. The path to the junction in Merigar is marked in red and white.
