Breezy summit tour to Yaiza"s local mountain The ridge at the foot of Montaña de la Cinta has a very special place in the island"s history. From there, the Yaiza priest Lorenzo Curbeto observed the most powerful modern natural spectacle in the Canary archipelago and wrote the famous sentence in his diary: "On September 1, 1730, the earth suddenly burst open, two hours from Yaiza near Timanfaya." Over the next six years, an area of around 200 km² with ten villages disappeared under the volcanic eruptions. The summit of Montaña de la Cinta offers magnificent views of the fire mountains created by the eruptions.
Starting point: By bus line 60 from Arrecife / Puerto del Carmen or by car to Yaiza to the parish church, 186 m. Park there.Requirements: Extremely steep ascent, partly pathless and rough. The last part of the descent on a comfortable slope.
