"The whole thing is an immense garden," the poet Hugo von Hofmannsthal said of the Vienna Woods meadows. Many generations of foresters have created a harmonious cultural landscape here, adapted to nature. Isolated farmsteads with their scattered orchards, small villages in gentle valleys, and small-scale pastures, fields, and meadows divided by groups of trees and hedgerows characterize this landscape. Species-rich, light mixed forests blend into this harmony. The Michelbach High Trail leads us through this "garden" and allows us to experience the Vienna Woods meadows with all our senses.
