For us, pilgrimage can mean a connection to religion, or simply a relaxed hike in search of inner peace. In any case, we will enjoy the quiet moments on the way to Mariazell. Our route is part of the long-distance hiking trail 07 and connects to another feeder path to the actual Mariazellerweg near St. Magdalena in Eastern Styria. Coming from our neighboring country Slovenia from Maria Bistrica, across Slovenia and Croatia, our start this time is in Bad Radkersburg.
The idea of pilgrimage, of a journey into the "self", is as old as man's desire for purity and health. Perhaps some terms have changed over the centuries, but the basic idea has remained the same.
