Lleida – Seu Vella und Parc de la Mitjana

Urban hiking - mountain, river and forestThe "small" city of Lleida, which has around 140,000 inhabitants, owes its existence to the strategically important hill that rises from the plain on the lower course of the Segre and provides a good view of the surrounding area. It has been used by secular and ecclesiastical lords since time immemorial (Seu Vella = old bishop"s seat). For a long time, Lleida was the forgotten city in the far west of Catalonia. In recent years, however, it has been spruced up with considerable effort and skill and now presents itself as a modern, liveable city. Our city walk takes us past old and new buildings up to the fantastic hill with the old cathedral, where we can enjoy magnificent views as well as the many reminders of the past. We then walk along the river to the Mitjana city park, where we can walk on wide forest paths through the natural area along the Segre.
