Kissing – Königsbrunn
Two jewels and very special landscape conservationists The Lechfeld between Augsburg and Landsberg is characterized by its dry gravel areas, some of which are still kept free by transhumance. Their biodiversity is unique in Germany, which is particularly due to the fact that the heaths and dry forests are repeatedly interspersed with wetlands. The best known is the Königsbrunner Heide with its marsh gladioli, probably the largest occurrence in Central Europe. The relief was created by the Lech river, which once flowed in many gullies as a highly branched river. Centuries of grazing and litter use have led to nutrient depletion in the soil. Wild horses have also been used since 2007.
Starting point: Kissing train station (498 m, navigation: 86438 Kissing, Bahnhofsallee 8). End point: Föllstraße bus stop in Königsbrunn (506 m). Return journey with bus line 733 to Haunstetten-Nord, streetcar line 2 to Haunstetter Straße Bf, from here regional train.
