Via ferrata on a local mountain of the KerschbaumeralmThe Weittalspitze, which towers south of the Schutzhaus, offers two ascent options: the normal route via the Weittalscharte or the via ferrata from the Zochenpass. It commemorates the chairman of the Lienz mountain rescue service, Toni Allmaier, who died in an accident on the Elbrus in 1999. The descent along the normal route makes for a rewarding traverse.
Starting point: Valley villages / starting point: Leisach, 710 m, and Amlach, 687 m, 2.5 km and 2 km south of the town center of Lienz.Klammbrückl, 1096 m, parking lot, in the Kerschbaumeralm nature reserve.
