Racy neighbor of the HocheisspitzeThe Kammerlinghorn is one of the quiet tour destinations in the Berchtesgaden Alps. Wild and secluded, it towers into the sky above the Mittereisalm, as most tourers are drawn from this basin to the left up to the Hocheisspitze (also in this guide), meaning that the Kammerlinghorn tends to go unnoticed. It is easier to reach and offers a somewhat quicker descent - but absolutely safe conditions are a prerequisite. The best and safest time for the Kammerlinghorn is therefore during the weeks when there is no snow up to the Hirschbichlpass, there is excellent firn at the top of the cirque and you can enjoy the second part of your snack in the warming sun on the descent to the Mittereisalm.
Starting point: Parking lot in Hintertal, 980 m (on the Hirschbichlstraße before the Weißbachbrücke bridge (closed sign, disregard will be expensive).Requirements: From the parking lot to the Mittereisalm, the ascent follows the road or an alpine path, followed by steep slopes from the Mittereisalm.
