Jachenau – Benediktenwand
The western route up from the valley of the Große Laine Of the ascents to the Benediktenwand, the one that starts in the village of Jachenau is particularly attractive. It follows the ditch of the Große Laine up to its source below the Glaswandscharte, where you turn to the east and head for the summit, first in the forest and then through extensive fields of mountain pines. Water features characterize the access path; the small and large cascades, the pools and rivulets never get boring. In spring/early summer, lady"s slipper, forest bird"s-foot trefoil and columbine bloom here; gentians can be found on the Petereralm.
Starting point: Hikers" parking lot, 790 m, in Jachenau below the parish church (bus stop).Requirements: Quite long, but not very difficult summit hike.
