Steep ascent to a pilgrimage mountain Near the small mining village of Montevecchio, an 8 km long mountain range breaks through the green hilly landscape of the Costa Verde. The mountain range is of volcanic origin with the highest point, Monte Arcuentu, visible from afar. The view from the summit is unique, but the path to get there is arduous. For some devout locals, the route therefore seemed suitable for depicting the Passion of Christ. A total of twelve metal plates depict the stations of his way of the cross in the final part of the ascent.
Starting point: Parking lot in front of the residential building of the former Agriturismo Arcuentu, 308 m. From the SS 126 coming from Villacidro, follow the brown signs for "Costa Verde" and "Montevecchio" through Guspini and drive 7.5 km from the end of the village on a paved road to Montevecchio.
