Höllbachgespreng, Großer Falkenstein
Primeval forest hiking experience on the Großer Falkenstein Many paths lead up the Großer Falkenstein. One of the most interesting and challenging is certainly the ascent through the Höllbachgespreng. After the Höllbachschwelle we climb past the Höllbach waterfall through steep, rocky terrain. Giant trees, mosses and ferns reinforce the primeval impression. Once we reach the summit, we can enjoy the view and take a break at the Falkenstein refuge. Then we have a choice: the Goldsteig leads us along the Windwurferlebnisweg and the Ruckowitzschachten with its great views. A shorter route takes us over the Kleiner Falkenstein with great views of the Großer Arber. The excursion to the Hans-Watzlik-Hain primeval forest area and the idyllically situated Schwellhäusl is ideal as a follow-up hike or for those with stamina.
