Hocharn, Goldzechkopf, Hoher Sonnblick
The boldest section of the Klagenfurt Jubilee TrailHocharn and Hoher Sonnblick are among the most important peaks in the Kleine Fleißtal area. Crossing both peaks is considered an outstanding tour for experienced mountaineers. Towards the north, the summits are very steep, while the sides facing the sun are easier to walk on. There we hike along the traces of historic mining sites. The ascent to the Goldzechscharte is characterized by old, dilapidated mining tunnels and yellow-brown spoil heaps. The former gold mining in the Hohe Tauern flourished until around 1580. "The calf is out, the cow is still in" is a saying of the locals, as only a fifth of the Tauern gold was extracted in 3000 years of mining. The "golden rest" will remain undiscovered due to the legal situation (8 -10 grams of gold per ton of rock).
