The real highlight is called "Nockkreuz "Above the villages of Tyrnau and Fladnitz, the "Steirischer Voralpenweg" (number 740, Graz - Sonnwendstein) connects the Nechnitzsattel and the Teichalm. In the middle of this part of the route is a picturesque alpine ridge called "Hubenhalt". However, the final highlight of this hiking tour is on the Gschaidberg, known locally as the "Gschaid-Nock". The "Nockkreuz" stands at this culmination point. There is a 360-degree panorama all around. If you want to take a shorter walk, follow the signposted "Gschaid-Nock circular hiking trail": this branches off at Hausebnerberg and leads back to Nechnitz via the "Gschaid-Nock".
Starting point: Valley villages: Tyrnau, 616 m. Fladnitz an der Teichalm, 694 m. Approach: via Frohnleiten and Schrems. From Weiz via Passail and Fladnitz. Starting point: In Nechnitz; Gasthof "Haider" (Fam. Harrer vlg. Großfuchs; R: Tue, Wed, in winter also Thu) or Gasthof "Frankenhof" (R: Mon, Tue). Both inns closed in November. Access: from Tyrnau or Fladnitz, 4 km in each case.
