One of the starting points to the Gowilalm pasture & alpine hut is at the Flinderl mill in Oberweng at Spital am Pyhrn, parking areas between the Jausenstube Singerskogel (cafe) and Goslitzbauer (farm) in Oberweng.
From here trail nr. 616 leads along a forest road, steadily uphills, mostly through shady mountain forests to the Gowilalm. The lower part of the trail is also part of the mountain bike trail „Oberwenger Panoramaroute“. A second starting point is from the parking area of the Großhütte in Oberweng via the forest road to the Sonnleithner gravel pit, slightly rising.
