Where dolomite meets primary rockIf you want to head for a quieter summit destination from the Kreuzjochbahn, we recommend the Gamskogel. Separated from the Kalkkögeln by the Seejöchl, an interesting geological situation can be seen there: it is the transition from the dolomite of the Brenner Mesozoic to the crystalline rock that predominates in the majority of the Stubai Alps. In the terrain itself, the structure and rock coloration make this immediately obvious even to the layman.
Starting point: valley station of the Schlicker Bergbahnen (Kreuzjochbahn) in Fulpmes, approx. 1000 m. Large parking lot and bus connection, mountain station at 2108 m. Operating times between the end of May and the beginning of October, from 9 am to 4.15 pm.End point: Neustift im Stubaital, 993 m. Bus connection with Fulpmes.Requirements: T2-3.
