DUR 9: Hafnerbach – Karlstetten
The Dunkelsteinerwald Circuit (DUR), a 160-kilometer loop trail, connects the most beautiful spots in the Dunkelsteinerwald region in nine stages (and four connecting paths). It offers an unparalleled nature and hiking experience. The ninth stage (DUR 9) leads from Hafnerbach to Karlstetten. All stages and connecting paths can be found at: www.dunkelsteinerwaldrunde.at.
From Hafnerbach, we hike along the Zenobach stream to the statue of Saint Zeno. Our path leads us onward to the Hohenegg castle ruins, from where a steady climb awaits us until we reach the Dunkelstein, the highest elevation in the southern part of the region. Here we can enjoy a sweeping view of the landscape before we set off for the Musterkreuz (Pattern Cross) and hike to Neidling.
