The Doctor Faustus Trail was created based on the descriptions of the places in the novel, which Thomas and Viktor Mann clearly guarantee for Polling. The scenic circular trail touches all the places that Thomas Mann mentions in connection with the birthplace and residence of his title character Adrian Leverkühn. You walk in the footsteps of an important work of world literature - in the field of tension between reality and fictional character. With 13 text panels, the themed trail offers entertaining relaxation in an intact cultural landscape.
Nobody less than Nobel Prize winner Thomas Mann was inspired by the Alpine backdrop in Polling to create a literary version of Dr. Faust. Like Goethe, Thomas Mann took up the medieval figure and created the fictional musician Adrian Leverkühn, who made a pact with the devil for his musical genius.
