To Fischbach"s local mountainThe Teufelstein is a popular peak at just under 1500 m above sea level, with a striking rock formation, summit cross and views of parts of the northern Limestone Alps, such as Hochschwab, Veitsch, Rax and the Schöckl, Graz"s local mountain to the south. Fischbach is a wonderful starting point for hikes and has a good infrastructure that makes a hiker"s heart beat faster: a bakery, a patisserie with a chocolate factory, a grocery store, numerous restaurants and a well-kept swimming pond. The Devil"s Stone, a bizarre weathered rock, is a very special place of power that is the subject of many legends and stories. It is said that the devil Lucifer tried to build a tower in the sky in order to enter the realm of the blessed. He didn"t succeed, but that"s how the stone got its name. The winter solstice is a very special experience, as many hikers hike to this spot early in the morning to experience the sunrise together.
Starting point: Fischbach, 1000 m, parking available in the village. Directions: Take the S 6 to the Langenwang exit, then follow the B 72 via Alpl to Fischbach.
