A pleasant short hike to the large waterfall: The walk to the "dangerous waterfall" near Rabaçal is a must-do for every visitor to Madeira, and the path is correspondingly busy. From Lagoa do Vento, the water plunges 100 meters down a smooth wall.
Starting point: Parking lot on the ER 105 at the turnoff to Rabaçal, 1278 m. Coming from Funchal, take the motorway to Ribeira Brava and continue to Ponta do Sol. At a roundabout with a fountain, turn right towards Canhas / Paul da Serra. Shortly after the petrol station in Canhas, turn right following the signs for Paul da Serra.
