Cima Viezzena, 2491 m
Sprinter"s route to the westernmost peak of the Bocche groupThere are days when there"s simply nothing going on and you"d rather be barefoot on green meadows than with a mountain pole and hiking boots. So as not to be completely idle, I suggest an ascent of Cima Viezzena in the western Bocche ridge. The easily accessible limestone summit presents a magnificent 360-degree panorama, with the rocky peaks of the Fassa Dolomites as well as those of the Pala and the Fiemme Alps. Most of the altitude difference has already been covered on the Lùsia cable car, so an hour"s walk is enough for the final ascent.
Starting point: valley station, 1370 m (large parking lot, bus stop on line B123), of the two-section Lùsia cable car near the hamlet of Ronchi in the Valle di San Pellegrino, 3 km from Moena. Middle station, 1820 m, on Valbona, north of Malga Pozza. Top station, 2272 m, on the "Le Cune" shoulder to the west above the Passo di Lùsia. Open from June 15/20 to Sept.
