Cima SAT, 1246 m
A rocky throne with a via ferrata section above Riva: Cima SAT is just one of the sub-peaks of the rugged Rocchetta massif, which forms the fantastic rocky backdrop of Riva. Its prominent position offers magnificent views down to Riva and Lake Garda, as well as a wonderful panorama of Monte Baldo and the surrounding mountains. The ascent from Riva is consistently very steep. The first half of the route – up to the Chiesa di S. Barbara – can be undertaken with older children. However, the remaining section to the summit is reserved exclusively for experienced mountaineers. Near the summit, we pass numerous trenches and rock caverns from the First World War. The descent via the north side is also steep, but manageable without difficulty. The entire massif is only wooded in its lower reaches; above this, we traverse scrubland and open terrain. In summer, it can therefore get quite hot.
Starting point: Valley town: Riva, 73 m; see tour 41. West side of Riva at the ascent to the "Bastione". Starting point: Parking available in newly built parking garages along the road at the starting point; possibly also in Riva (all now subject to charges). Requirements: Wide hiking trail at the beginning and up to Capanna S. Barbara, from Capanna S. Barbara onwards...
