Cadolzburg – Druidenstein
Over the Dillenberg: Cadolzburg was once a popular destination for day trips from Fürth, especially during the cherry blossom season, when people would arrive on the affectionately nicknamed "Mockerla" tourist train. This tour demonstrates that this romantic market town is an ideal starting point for memorable hikes in every season. It leads across the wooded sandstone ridge of the Dillenberg to the legendary Druid's Stone and from there to the hammer mill, idyllically situated in the Farrnbach Valley. The route then takes you through the Franconian farming villages of Stinzendorf and Gonnersdorf back to Cadolzburg, where you should allow some time to explore the old town center and its castle. And why not end your day's hike by climbing the 143 steps of the Cadolzburg observation tower and enjoying the magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding countryside?
Starting point: Cadolzburg train station, 363 m. From Nuremberg Central Station take the S1 or S2 to Fürth Central Station, then continue with the RB to Cadolzburg (final stop).
