Amusing border curiosities and elegant Rhine riverbank paths: Exclave or enclave? Excluded from Germany or from Switzerland? In Büsingen, many things are confusing and unique: In any case, the German village is surrounded by Schaffhausen due to the changing course of history and is intensely connected to it: a Swiss telephone booth next to a German one, two postal codes for the same post office... many unique features characterize this island territory. A specially marked "Exclave Trail" allows you to explore and experience these special features along 11 stations with information panels. The trail also follows a beautiful section of the High Rhine riverbank, partly landscaped as a superb park ("Lindli") on the way there from Schaffhausen, and partly left in its natural state with opportunities to experience the water directly ("Rheinhölzle"). A varied and interesting route! And if you unexpectedly encounter a camel or a donkey, you're not in the wrong movie, but simply... in Büsingen!
Starting point: Schaffhausen, Schifflände, 391 m. Directions – From Schaffhausen train station, a 10-minute walk through the old town; city bus 5 to "Schifflände". – Paid parking garage Schifflände. End point: Büsingen town center, Bürgerhaus bus stop, 394 m.
