Contemplative tour through vineyards and Mediterranean scrublandThe medieval Passignano monastery is located a few kilometers south-east of Florence, surrounded by vineyards. The crenellated campanile dominates the landscape from afar. The former Benedictine abbey, one of the most influential monasteries in Italy in the Middle Ages, is now home to a renowned winery and the starting point for a delightful hike through the wine region.
Starting point: Badia a Passignano, 345 m. From the Firenze - Siena highway, take the Tavarnelle exit to Sambuca and follow the signs to the monastery.Requirements: Short sections on tarred roads at the beginning and end of the tour.
