An enchanting water landscapeThe romantic Upia or Upital valley is a prime example of the abundance of water in the Central Alps. In contrast to the Limestone Alps, the water does not seep into the ground but collects on the surface. Moist meadows, streams with gorges and waterfalls and, above all, extensive lakes are the enchanting result. In the Upia Valley, we find a little bit of everything, making our hike a pure water experience: The foaming Upiabach stream, a gorge with a rushing torrent, an atmospheric mountain lake and a plateau criss-crossed by numerous watercourses. The natural streams meander through the meadows in beautiful meanders. The main destination of this hike, whose highest point is at an altitude of 2615 meters, is the large Upiasee lake, also known as "Auf den Lacken", which offers more than its profane name promises.
Starting point: Glieshof, 1824 m. Between Schluderns and Mals, in Tartsch, turn into Matscher Tal and drive through Matscher Tal to Glieshof, large parking lot below the Almhotel Glieshof.Means of transport: Bus connection from Mals (Vinschgaubahn train station) to Matsch.
