Arthur-Hartdegen-Weg II
Panoramic hiking in front of the Rieserferner three-thousand-meter peaks: Opinions may certainly differ on which of Rein's high-altitude trails is the most beautiful. The northern section of the "Hartdegen-Weg" clearly offers the best overall view of the Rieserferner group: glaciers, ridges, and peaks, from the Lenkstein (3237 m) in the east, via Hochgall (3436 m), Wildgall (3273 m), and Magerstein (3273 m), to the Schneebigen Nock (3358 m). Plenty of views for a mere two-hour climb to the high-altitude promenade!
Starting point: Rein, 1598 m, the only settlement in the valley of the same name, accessible from Sand in Taufers (11 km). Parking is available at 1538 m in the district known as "Unterstadt" (!) in the valley floor. Bus connection to Sand. Requirements: An easy high-altitude hike on the northern slope of the Bachertal valley.
