The best 3D map of the mountains of the Alps and Pyrenees

RealityMaps flies over selected areas in winter to create these uniquely realistic 3D maps. These maps are currently available for the Zugspitze region, Berchtesgaden, Allgäu, Vorarlberg, Kitzbühel Alps, Ötztal Alps, the Ski Amadé ski association in Salzburger Land and Styria, the Dolomites in South Tyrol and the Engadine in Switzerland.

High-precision 3D map

Topographic map

Contour lines, slope gradient and relief - ideal for estimating gradients and planning ascents and descents. The topographic map has detailed relief shading based on a surface model with 50 cm resolution.

Topographical 3D winter map

We have created a special topographical 3D winter map for Alpine regions outside the aerial surveys and for the Pyrenees. It is calculated from OpenStreetMap data and contains detailed 3D relief shading. This gives the map a vivid impression that makes orientation much easier. We use the elevation model from the aerial map for shading. This allows you to assess the terrain optimally when skiing and ski touring.

With the combination of an ultra-realistic 3D map and a detailed slope gradient layer, you can find a safe route for your ski tour. The slope gradient is much more accurate than in other outdoor apps because we have calculated the slope gradient based on our highly accurate surface model with 50 cm resolution. The 3D map also helps you with ski tours that you import into the app from other tour portals.

The RealityMaps app offers an unprecedented level of safety in the mountains. In the ultra-realistic 3D map, you can see the nature of the terrain and recognize danger spots. This is difficult to do with a topographical map alone. Many people know the situation: fog suddenly appears and you can no longer see anything in the “whiteout”. Since maps digitally depict the real terrain, you can find your way in bad weather, fog or at night. Professional mountaineers and mountain rescuers rely on this revolutionary app.

The winter map includes over 500 ski resorts in the Alps and Pyrenees based on OpenStreetMap. All slopes, lifts and cable cars are displayed in their exact position. So you can explore new ski areas or record your runs with the GPS tracking tool. Over 30,000 pistes and 9,000 ski lifts are waiting to be discovered. If you like going off-piste, use the 3D map to find new routes into the valley.

With the GPS on your smartphone, you can record the kilometers you have covered on the slopes and statistics on your performance. On the way, important information such as the distance covered, altitude, speed and time in motion is displayed. With a supported heart rate monitor, you can record fitness data at the same time.
